COVID & Flu Vaccinations
OUR OVER 80 VACCINATION CLINICS ON 23 AND 24 JANUARY WILL NOW BE HELD AT CARDEN MEDICAL CENTRE AND NOT THE GRAMMAR SCHOOL
CLINICS FOR OTHER AGE GROUPS ARE BEING ORGANISED CENTRALLY - PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE PRACTICE ABOUT THESE AS WE ARE UNABLE TO ASSIST AND THE VOLUME OF CALLS IS PREVENTING US FROM BEING ABLE TO GET TO THOSE WHO ARE CONTACTING US AS THEY ARE UNWELL
COVID - Patients will be called in order of priority. We are delighted to be vaccinating our over 80 patients at Grammar School (now at Carden) on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 January - you will be contacted centrally to have your appointment booked (and we cannot do this at the practice). There will be familiar faces from the doctors, nurses, manager and admin team at the Grammar School to give you your jab. We cannot vaccinate anyone without a pre-booked appointment
It is intended that the over 70's and extremely clinically vulnerable (shielding) groups will be vaccinated throughout February. You can find a list of the priority groups by clicking here. Shielding patients will be sent up to date advice in relation to the latest lockdown. You can continue to work from home - if you are unable to do this, the letter you receive can be used as evidence for your employer to show that you cannot go to work - you do not need a separate sick note from your GP. Additional information for shielding patients can be found at www.mygov.scot/shielding.
We want to reassure patients that we continue to deal with all queries - but are doing so in a different way than before COVID 19. To let us know about your health concern or query - please use e-consult by clicking on the link above. A GP will assess your request and return you - appointments can be carried out by telephone, video or, as clinically necessary, by face to face appointment (usually if a clinician needs to "lay hands on" a patient in order to be able to clinically assess them). We are limiting the numbers coming into the practice to keep both patients and staff as safe as possible.
If you have an appointment at the surgery - we would ask that you wear a face covering eg scarf or a cloth to protect yourselves, other patients and staff. The clinician seeing you will be wearing Personal Protective Equipment and all members of our team will be wearing masks
Video Consultations -
If you have been given a time or day for a video consultation, you can access this by clicking on the secure link https://nhsattend.vc/nhsg/CardenMC using any device with a microphone and camera (smartphone, tablet, ipad, laptop, PC). You can use this link to test that everything is working for you before the time of your appointment. If you have not been given a video appointment by the practice, your call will not be answered.

Mask Wearing - we do not provide letters to advise that patients cannot wear masks
The wearing of face coverings is currently compulsory in many areas . Some people cannot wear masks because of a disability or severe distress - if you are in this position, you can request an exemption card online at www.exempt.scot or by calling 0800 121 6240

If you feel that you need to speak to a doctor about your COVID symptoms - please call NHS24 on 111. The team will ask questions and pass this information to a clinician who can decide if your symptoms can be dealt with by phone call or if you need to be seen. If you need to be seen, this will be organised safely.
Prescription Collection -
Please use one of the pharmacy collection services if you need prescriptions, you will not be able to collect prescriptions from the practice

Not all conditions need a visit to your GP, please click on our Self Treatment Link for information about many common minor ailments. Pharmacist are experts in medicine and your local pharmacy can also help with many minor heath concerns without the need to visit your GP.

Keeping Antibiotics Working Campaign
The campaign reminds us that a course of antibiotics is not required to treat common winter illnesses such as viral coughs, colds and flu. The video below will direct you to the Know Who To TurnTo website where you have options to select different services. Under Self Help and Pharmacist there is a link to "Coughs, Colds and More" which has brief information about self care, links to NHS Grampian Self Help Guides and the NHSInform and Antibiotic Guardian website.
On Line Services -
We have currently suspended booking of appointments on line - this allows us to check the reason for your appointment and deal with this by phone if appropriate to prevent patients visiting the practice if this is not needed (see coronavirus above)
Prescriptions can still be ordered using this service - please ensure that you advise us which pharmacy you would like to pick up your prescriptions from as these cannot currently be collected from the practice.
